Frequently Asked Questions

What is your vaccination policy for dogs?

We require all dogs be up to date on vaccinations for their age.

For puppies, this means they may not have finished their full series of boosters yet. As long as they are in the process and vaccinated age-appropriately according to your vet’s recommendations, that is just fine!

For dogs over 6 months, we require they be up to date on their core shots, (including rabies, as required by Washington State). We do accept titers for distemper and parvo, but cannot accept titers for the rabies vaccine.

What about fecal exams? What if my dog has a positive fecal test?

We require all dogs attending Flying Ace classes have a clear fecal every 6 months.

Our policy for positive fecal results is once the puppy has been on medication to treat the parasite for 48 hours they may attend class, but may not have any nose to nose or nose to tail contact with any other puppies (so no playtime) until they finish the meds and get a clear result. They can participate in the rest of class, just not the playtime. We also ask that if your puppy has a bowel movement on the property that you scoop it promptly and also scoop the dirt directly underneath it to help prevent transfer to the soil. If your puppy has a positive fecal and has not been on the meds for 48 hours, we would ask that you leave them at home and attend class without them that week so that you don’t miss the lesson.

Once your dog has finished their medication, you will need to get another fecal exam to be sure the parasite has been cleared. Once that has happened, your dog is able to participate in all aspects of class.

Do you accept aggressive dogs in class?

Flying Ace Dog Training does not accept aggressive dogs in group training classes. If your dog has aggression issues, or suspected aggression issues, please contact me prior to the start of class, and I will be happy to refer you to some excellent trainers in our area who specialize in aggression.

Can multiple family members attend class? What about children?

We welcome all family members to participate in training your dog. Young children must be supervised by an adult and able to sit quietly during class. The primary handler must be at least 16 years old unless prior arrangements are made with the class instructor.

What happens if the weather is bad? Do you cancel class?

Classes may be cancelled in the case of extreme weather conditions, instructor emergency, facility emergency, or low enrollment. Notification will be sent via email. Day of class cancellations will be notified by both email and telephone. If you are unsure if class is being held, please contact me at 425-418-8981. A make up class will be scheduled to cover the missed material.

Rather than cancel class, the instructor may choose to have an online class that week over Zoom, if appropriate. If that is the case, instructions and a class link will be sent over email.

What is your refund policy?

Refunds will not be issued once the current class session begins. This includes students who drop out day-of class. Late cancellations (less than 1 week prior to the start of classes) will be eligible for a 50% refund. Refunds for payments made through through PayPal will be minus the fees charged by PayPal.

What is your COVID-19 policy?

Updated January 2024: All participants in classes held in-person will be required to submit a health attestation for themselves and their dog before each class (we will provide the form).

If a class participant has symptoms of illness, they may not attend class until they are symptom-free for 48 hours. Participants who have been exposed to someone who has a respiratory illness within the last 10 days must mask while at class, and may not attend unless they are symptom free.

If a dog has symptoms of illness, they may not attend class untill they have been symptom free for 48 hours. The handler may attend class without their dog, or may request a video lesson to work from.

For participants who have to miss class due to health protocols, we will provide class recordings to work from at home so that you don’t miss the lessons.
