Our Instructors

Heather Rush

Heather has been training family dogs since 2002.  She opened Flying Ace Puppy School in 2003.  Her training techniques are influenced by her experiences with some of the most forward thinking people in dog training, including Brian Kilcommons, Sue Sternberg, Patricia McConnell, Sarah Wilson and Kathy Sdao.

Heather's training philosophy is aimed at opening the lines of communication between handlers and their dogs.  With fun, fair and practical methods she helps dogs and handlers find a common ground of trust and connection.

Heather is a Certified Nose Work Instructor through National Association of Canine Scent Work, and a Scent Work Judge with United States Canine Scent Sports. She is a therapy instructor and evaluator for Reading With Rover, and served on Reading With Rover's Board of Directors for 18 years .  Heather is also a CGC Evaluator for American Kennel Club.

Heather has volunteered in therapy work for over 18 years, first with Ace, then with True, and then with Thea. She spent many years volunteering foster care for Homeward Pet and MEOW Cat Rescue.  She currently competes in Nose Work with her beagle, Emi.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys hiking, kayaking, long walks, and cozying up with a good book.
