Our Dogs

Emi

Foxtail's Shifting Gears NW3, L1E, L1I

Our Emi is playful, funny, charming, and full of mischief, Emi enjoys doing classroom demos, and thinks nose work is the best. She loves long walks on the beach (especially if there are crab shells!), exploring, playing with friends, and curling up on a lap.

Emi has become a full-time employee of Flying Ace (she works for chicken and salmon), and has adjusted well to her job. She insists on holidays off and plenty of vacation time, as well as employee health benefits, consisting of naps in front of the fireplace and long walks with lots of sniffing.

Tucker

ELT1, L2E, L2I, L1C, L1V, NSAM, DDCN

Tucker loves to go where Teresa goes, whether that is a hike, a drive, or to work. He serves in a consultant position in obedience classes (meaning random free cookies just for showing up!), and as a demo dog in nose work classes.

Tucker is a retired Therapy Dog with Reading with Rover, and retired from crisis therapy work after several years volunteering with HOPE Animal-Assisted Crisis Response. He is an intuitive therapy dog who seeks out those in need.

Tucker is retired from Nose Work competitions, but he still loves sniffing in class or at home. It is so much fun to see his excitement when it is his turn to search!

Buddy

NW2, L2C, L1E, DDCN

Buddy came to Teresa as a foster, and is now a permanent family member. He took to nose work very quickly, and loves the game. He's not super fond of assisting in the obedience classes, but he loves assisting in nose work classes, and is so much fun to watch!

Buddy love road trips, especially road trips to Nose Work trials, and time at the beach.

Thea

FoxTail’s Emerging Theories CGC, TKA, ELT1, L3C, L2I, NSAM, DDCM2, DDCA2, EA, CM, IM, VM

March, 2016- August, 2023

Thea was our Adventure Beagle. She was up for just about anything, and loved hiking, kayaking, beachcombing, and exploring new spaces. She was also a cuddler, and she was happy to snuggle in for a nap, some TV time, or to read a good book.

Sniffing was her favorite activity, so Nose Work was a perfect fit. She retired at the Elite level in NACSW, and at the Masters level in USCSS.

Thea worked as a demo dog in all of my classes. She loved having a job to do (and requested her paycheck in Chicken Bits). Thea was a retired Therapy dog with Reading with Rover. Her specialty was reading visits, at schools or libraries.

True

Briarlane’s Authenticity CGC, NW2,, NW3E

July 2004-December 2018

True had the heart of a therapy dog, and a sweet and gentle nature. She was happy as long as she was with her family, and she sought out people who might need her. She was smart and determined, and never met a treat she didn’t like! Playful, opinionated, sniffy, and full of love, she was all beagle.

True taught obedience classes with me for 14 years. She introduced me to Nose Work, and forever changed my understanding of dog training. She was always up for the job, and taught many, many puppies how to play.

True was a Therapy Dog with Delta Society and with Reading with Rover, working in Schools, Libraries, Assisted Living, and crisis work. She taught children to read, and lifted hearts.

Ace

Briarlane’s Fair Dinkum CGC

February 2002- May, 2004

The pup that started it all! Playful, intelligent, eager to learn, and full of love, Ace started me on the path to dog training. He was up for anything—hike? Yes! Snow? Yes! Playtime? Yes! New friends? Yes! Fetch? Yes!

He was an easy dog to love, and made friends everywhere he went. He learned right alongside of me, doing classroom demos as I learned to be a dog trainer, patient, kind, and oh, so smart!

Ace was a Therapy Dog with Delta Society, and helped start the reading program at Woodmoor Elementary.
